![]() Also, Greta Thunberg, who was on a SciFri video of ours a few weeks ago, was just named Time Magazine's "Person of the Year" for her work inspiring conversation and action regarding climate change. She is the youngest person to be given this honor. One SciFri video is about some humanoid mini robots battling it out at a competition! The engineering and design is so cool! The other SciFri is a comparison video of planets to different stars and then continues into the galaxy and beyond!
We had a SciFri last week about how to make a cloud in your mouth! Then, this week we saw a video about an octopus using problem solving skills to get a fish. Super interesting!
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we're thankful for SciFri...or SciTues in this case! Here are two videos, suggested by Issa N. and Alishan M. Thanks, guys!
Thanks to Dylan D. for suggesting this! He found the video about the guy who created a substance that absorbs more light than Vantablack, which is the most light-absorbing material. If you don't know what Vantablack is, check out the other video first!
We've had some interesting SciFri videos in the past few weeks. Here are some of them - thanks for the recommendations!
It's a new year and a new building and we're back in the swing of things. Here are a couple of the SciFris we've had so far!
Thanks to Joel W. for suggesting this awesome video! How strong is oobleck? You know that fun corn starch and water combo that sometimes feels like a liquid and sometimes feels like a solid? They explore how strong it is in this video with chainsaws, bb guns, and even a golf ball cannon launcher! This channel, The Backyard Scientist, has some really interesting stuff. As a bonus, here is the other video they made together, too! How would you survive better if a grenade exploded?...on land or in the water?
Here are some of the SciFri videos we've watched recently that I haven't posted. Thanks to Collin, Alec, Val, and Vinnie for sharing videos for SciFri! Enjoy! I forgot to post a SciFri last week so this week we had two SciTues videos! This second video is brought to you by Collin Mergel. Thanks, Collin. I'm a little behind in posting SciFri videos - enjoy! Todday's SciFri will help us understand just how insane atoms are! It's kind of wild to imagine how small they are and the fact that they are mostly empty space. So this past week I put a plasma ball in the room for students to check out and play with but I figured that we might not really know a lot about plasma, despite the fact that it's the most prevalent type of matter in the ENTIRE UNIVERSE! Our SciFri video tells us a little more about plasma.
Did you know that we have a black hole at the center of our galaxy? Are you scared now??? Well, don't be! Our SciFri video goes over the black hole in the middle of the Milky Way galaxy and the science of why we don't really need to be worried!
